Guests slam 'total slum' Pontins for 'vomit on duvet' and 3am fire alarm tests

A visitor to Pontins was left appalled after claiming to find vomit on their bedding.

Three recent guests at the Brean Sands holiday camp in Somerset have come away from the experience less than impressed, claiming bins were overflowing and fire alarms would go off at 3am, Somerset Live reports.

Sarah T wrote a scathing review on TripAdvisor on Monday, urging those considering a stay at Pontins: "Don't do it."

She also said it was "one of the worst places" she had ever stayed.

"The whole park is grubby with an obvious lack of care," Sarah wrote.

"Outside our apartment was a used tampon and broken glass, the big bins were overflowing.

"All of these issues were reported and, as yet, nothing has been done about them.

"The drawers were broken, so that you couldn’t open one without the other two falling out."

Sarah said she had to go to customer services to get a toaster, pillows, duvets, glasses and plugs as the apartment was missing all of the items.

"In the front room instead of a sofa to sit on we had a single bed, not a sofa bed, a bed," she continued.

"We were told it was all they could do as the sofas were stuck on a shipment."

A reviewer who went by the name Devils D also stayed at the Brean Sands resort this month.

In a one-star review, they wrote: "I don’t know what I expected, it must have been a complete moment of madness that I booked to stay here.

"The whole place is unclean with an outdated odour.

"Staff are too busy to answer any type of reasonable question."

However, Devils D did admit that it was still a good place for young people to have fun.

They said: "The children appeared to enjoy it. There was lots for them to do and plenty of other children to socialise with."

Stephanie took the chance to book a cheap staycation this summer at the Pontins but left wishing she'd stayed at home.

Giving the resort one star, she said: "Booked a cheap few days at Pontins Brean; wasn’t expecting much but it’s absolutely appalling.

"I feel sorry for the kids, we are trying to make the best of it and have fun off-site regardless of how bad our staying conditions are, the cherry on top is the unwelcoming rude members of staff occasionally appearing.

"I was handed a key and haven’t been spoken to since. Hoping to get some sleep tonight as the fire alarms have gone off at 3am every morning making us all go outside on the soaking wet grass (full of cigarette buts and empty cans of beer on every corner).

"Freezing cold crying kids for 10 minutes until they turn off with absolutely no explanation as to why."

She went on to give her recommendations for how the popular holiday spot could be spruced up.

Stephanie wrote: "At this point I’m not even surprised. I just want to have a few good days at the beach, arcades and fair and I’ll be glad to leave this place behind.

"Genuinely feel like the whole place needs to be deep cleaned; new paint job and some decent staff employed. And some on-site facilities for the children as there is nothing offered on-site.

"And the amount of half-empty bottles of spirits left discarded on corners and left near bins on the pavement is disgusting with children on site."

A reviewer using the name Yakamoo also visited the site this month and they were not impressed.

Yakamoo wrote: "The first thing I noticed upon reaching the chalet were the dirty windows. Upon entry it was immediately obvious the floor had not been swept never mind cleaned, it was sticky with grime.

"In the bedroom, I came across Vomit on one of the duvets. Dreadful condition; the cleaners should be sacked.

"Such a shame because it’s close to the beach and has loads of potential. Would not recommend."

Anthony Southall's family had the Pontin's trip 'from hell' (UGC TMY)

The Brean Sands Pontins is not the only one to come in for searing criticism from punters.

Mum of two Leigh Aldred, from Manchester said she was left disgusted by the state of the her room at the Prestatyn's holiday park.

Anthony Southall visited the holiday park on July 26 with his wife Rebecca, their son, Benjamin, and daughters, Addison and Presley and was equally unimpressed.

They were so fed up with the experience that they checked out after just one night and made the 100 mile trip home.
