At around midnight crews from Stockhill and Highfields were called to the Jubilee Campus Conference Centre and hotel.

There was a fire in the plant room and guests inside the centre were evacuated.

A spokeswoman for The University of Nottingham said: "There was a minor fire in a ground floor plant room in our Jubilee Campus Conference Centre shortly after midnight.

"We're very grateful for the swift actions of the fire brigade who dealt with the situation very quickly.

"Guests were evacuated as a precaution for a short time and we are relieved to report that no-one was injured."
