The Met Gala 2019 was truly a spectacle this year, full of celebrities staging elaborate pink carpet performances as they brought the fundraiser’s ‘camp’ theme to life.
But flamboyance didn’t end after the gala wrapped up, as a number of celebrities kept the night going at the Playboy Club with Moschino as well as at Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala after party.
One of the hottest tickets was Gucci’s Met Gala after party, held at Hunter College. The bash, which was called 'GUCCI VS. GUCCY', saw stars dance the night away in a gym hall decked out with tinsel streamers, as they refueled on corn dogs, onion rings and ice cream - all served on school lunch trays. Stars including Harry Styles, Jared Leto, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Alexa Chung showed up ready for a big night out.
As with many other parties on the night, many stars opted for a quick costume change.
Katy Perry, who also stopped by Moschino’s after party, changed into a gigantic burger dress by the designer which she nearly couldn’t fit down the escalator.
The outfit came complete with burger shoes, which featured lettuce ruffles. She staged yet another semi-outfit change later on in the night, as she shimmied the burger down to create a skirt and revealed a bardot lettuce-printed top.
Jared Leto also changed out of his red robes for a sparkling pussy bow blouse. He kept the disembodied replica head that he had carried around the whole night, holding it up to photographers in a modern Hamlet move.
He introduced the head to some of his friends, including Gucci designer Alessandro Michele and Dakota Johnson, who looked thoroughly creeped out by the whole thing.
Harry Styles, who co-chaired the Met Gala, was another star to stage a quick change. He opted for a super high waisted pair of trousers and a crinkled asymmetrical bow tie.
Billy Porter, who was one of the best-dressed men at the Met Gala this year, changed out of his stunning Ancient Egyptian-inspired look for a tasseled bomber, gold embellished trousers and a fringed headpiece.
Us star Lupita Nyong’o traded her oversized ruffles for a blue cowl neck slip dress with gold chain detailing.
Many couples made after party appearances, with Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth joining the revelry.
They were photographed throughout the night with Miley Cyrus’ LOL costar Demi Moore, who also posed with Oscar winner Rami Malek.
Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter painted a pretty picture gliding down the escalators to join the rest of the party.
Other stars you didn’t even realise were friends showed up together, with Emma Stone and Carey Mulligan posing for the cameras with big grins on their faces.
The supermodel set was naturally in attendance, as Karlie Kloss posed with her friend Jourdan Dunn.
Cara Delevingne was seen walking in with Zoe Kravitz, as well as Ashley Graham and Joan Smalls.
Naomi Campbell was the social butterfly of the evening, flitting back and forth between Alessandro Michele and Salma Hayek.
Actor Justin Theroux decided to play photographer for the evening and was pictured sneaking into Mark Ronson’s DJ booth for the best view of the bash.
One of the best dressed stars of the night was easily fashion designer Alexa Chung, who arrived in a floral mini dress, beret and matching bag.
Adwoa Aboah joined her as one of the best dressed party guests of the night, wearing a purple gown with a massive ruffled top and crystal headpiece.
Singer Dua Lipa delivered her take on camp with a scarf-printed micro dress and belt details.
Other designers flocked to the party. Donatella Versace was photographed walked in and Michael Kors was seen linking arms with comedian Tiffany Haddish.
Designer Zac Posen planted a big kiss on the cheek of Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev.
