Rising Atlantan star Gucci Mane has everything the breakthrough rapper could want – a rivalry (with fellow rapper Young Jeezy), a work ethic (25 official mixtapes in five years) and his own prison cell, where he currently languishes due to parole violations. Released last year in the US, Mane's second studio album seeks to spring him out of the underground. Despite a decent sing-song growl and the odd amusing turn of phrase, Radric Davis isn't quite the hip-hop saviour his non-mainstream releases advertised, however. Pop-oriented collaborations with the likes of Usher ("Spotlight") don't play to his strengths while a three-way with Cam'ron and Lil Wayne ("Stupid Wild") leaves Gucci trailing.
