City know Ronaldo is key
In an alternative universe, Cristiano Ronaldo would be playing for Manchester City on Saturday instead of against them.
In this universe, Ronaldo is all but guaranteed to start for Manchester United in the derby at the Etihad.
City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his side that they will have to be at their very best to stop a striker who warmed up for the game in midweek with two goals, not to mention the fabulous goal he scored against Tottenham last weekend.

One player who won’t be playing on Saturday is Paul Pogba.
The midfielder is serving the second game of this three-match suspension and after his performance midweek against Atalanta, it’s probably best for United that he is unavailable.
After such a wonderful start to the season for the Frenchman, Pogba has reverted to the poor form which has plagued his United career and with his contract up in the summer and transfer window opening in January, it’s arguably best for all involved if Pogba and United finally part ways.

New opportunity for Van de Beek
If Pogba should leave, it could benefit Donny van de Beek.
Another United midfielder who hasn’t shown the Old Trafford crowd what he can do yet, for different reasons, his brief cameo on Tuesday night gave fans and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reasons to believe he can turn his career around in Manchester.
There’s still a chance that the Dutchman is loaned out in January if his performance in Italy is anything to go by, this could be the start of something brilliant.
