The Guardian has been honoured with two Amnesty International Media Awards which recognise excellence in human rights reporting and acknowledge journalism’s significant contribution to the UK public’s awareness and understanding of human rights issues.
The Guardian’s first virtual reality project 6x9: A virtual experience of solitary confinement came top in the multimedia category and Gui Minhai:The Strange Disappearance Of A Publisher Who Riled China’s Elite by Oliver Holmes and Tom Phillips took home the top award in the news category.
