A comic skit featuring a fat man trying to ride a bicycle - the kind of thing we're perhaps used to seeing online. But this is a short film with a difference -Fat Man on a Bicycle dates from 1914, and it's one of 150 films from the British Film Institute's archive that internet users can see for free on YouTube.

The films span the entire history of the moving picture - the oldest clip is from 1896, featuring people crossing London's Blackfriars Bridge. Robin Baker is head curator at the BFI national archive. Jon Dennis met him at the BFI's London HQ.
