The Guardian US has earned runner-up for The Counted in the 2016 John Jay College/Harry Frank Guggenheim Awards for Excellence in Criminal Justice Reporting. Journalists Jon Swaine, Oliver Laughland and Jamiles Lartey earned recognition from the judges for their ongoing criminal justice reporting series on police-related fatalities in the US. They will be honored at an awards ceremony on February 25, 2016 in New York City.
The prizes, selected each year by John Jay’s Center on Media, Crime and Justice, recognize the best print and online justice reporting in a US-based media outlet.
