Guardian US has been honored with an award at the Online News Association’s 2016 Online Journalism Awards. The Online News Association is the world’s largest association of digital journalists and its mission is to inspire innovation and excellence among journalists to better serve the public.
Guardian US earned an award for Topical Reporting for The County, a five part multimedia investigation into law enforcement in Kern County, California, where police killed people a higher rate than in any other county in America. The series also revealed a pattern of impunity and corruption, garnering attention around the world.
The Guardian was also part of the consortium that picked up the Al Neuharth award for innovation in investigation reporting for the Panama Papers disclosures.
