New York, September 22, 2015 - Guardian US has today announced three new appointments to its editorial team, upweighting its news operations and reflecting its increasing focus on important issues such as gender politics and climate change.
David Taylor is appointed head of news, Guardian US and will oversee US news operations day-to-day from New York City. David joins from the Times of London, where most recently he has served as Head of News. Previously he was US editor there, based in Washington DC, following postings in senior roles on the news desks of both the Times and the Guardian in the UK. With a journalistic career spanning more than 20 years, David brings unrivalled news expertise gained on both sides of the Atlantic.
Molly Redden joins as senior reporter, gender equality, and will work to increase the Guardian’s coverage of gender issues, including women’s rights, transgender rights and gender politics, across the US. Molly joins from Mother Jones, where she was a reporter based in Washington DC. She has previously worked for The New Republic and The Chronicle of Higher Education. Her work has also appeared in Salon, Washington City Paper and Slate.
Oliver Milman is appointed environment reporter, Guardian US and will relocate from Guardian Australia to New York to take up the role. Oliver has been responsible for driving much of the Guardian’s agenda-setting environmental reporting in Australia, and will now focus on deepening coverage of climate and environmental issues in America. Prior to joining Guardian Australia, Oliver worked for a range of business and trade publications in both the UK and Australia.
Lee Glendinning, editor, Guardian US, commented:
“I’m delighted to welcome David, Molly and Oliver to the editorial staff in New York City. They are all tremendously talented, experienced journalists who will help us continue to grow our audience in the US and increase our reporting of the issues that really matter to our readers.”
They will take up their roles in fall 2015 and will be based in the Guardian US newsroom in New York City.
