Guardian/Observer debate: liberty in peril?

David Davis's shock resignation from Westminster has revived the debate about the balance between freedom and security. Forty-two days' detention without trial, a CCTV camera on every street, and ID cards for all: are these evidence of an attack on our rights or a sign of the dangerous world we live in?

Join a Guardian/Observer debate on the question of "Liberty in Peril?" with the David Davis MP, Observer columnist Henry Porter, Times columnist David Aaronovitch, and Denis MacShane MP. The event will be chaired by Georgina Henry, the Guaridan's executive editor, comment, on Thursday July 3, at 7pm.

Doors open at 6.30pm
