Gordon Brown's decision to announce his resignation has added to the frenzied mood at Westminster as parties meet to negotiate power-sharing deals for a new government.
Along with his decision to step down "before the next Labour party conference", Gordon Brown added that he hoped his party could form a stable agreement to govern with the Liberal Democrats.
