Guardian Daily: Military leaders say Britain faces an identity crisis

Defence thinktank the Royal United Services Institute publishes a report today that details the risks Britain faces because of a crisis in national identity. One of the co-authors of the report, Professor Gwyn Prins of the London School of Economics, tells me multiculturalism has created a fragmented society.

Two high court judges are today considering overturning a decision by the director of the Serious Fraud Office to scrap its inquiry into alleged corruption in a £43bn arms deal between BAE and Saudi Arabia. The Guardian's investigations editor David Leigh has the story so far.

Luke Harding reports from Moscow, where President Vladimir Putin sounded off on Kosovo at his annual press conference. He says the west is guilty of hypocrisy by backing Kosovo's demands for independence from Serbia.
