Guardian Daily: George Osborne's spending watchdog quits

Sir Alan Budd is stepping down as head of the Office for Budget Responsibility after just three months, amid claims that the spending watchdog was not politically independent, as the chancellor stated when he announced its formation shortly after gaining office. The Guardian's head of business Dan Roberts says its a huge embarrassment for George Osborne.
