As voters go to the polls in today's European and local elections, dissident Labour MPs are gathering support for a push to remove Gordon Brown as party leader. Yesterday the communities secretary, Hazel Blears, delivered another blow to the prime minister by announcing her resignation - less than 24 hours after three other government colleagues revealed they were leaving.
