Guardian Camera Club: YesBut on photographing a 24-hour narrative
07.55 am: Another dull grey wet day. Feel like going back to bed, at least I would be warm and dry there. November, hasn't got a single redeeming featurePhotograph: YesBut/Flickr08.41 am: Thursday, “Bin-day”, though its no longer bins but bags. Can't remember if its a Black Bag Week or a Blue Bag Week. I go and look what others have put out. A neighbour appears and complains people have been putting their bags in front of her garage. Seeing no bags in front of my door, she gives me an accusing look. I pretend I haven't heard her and ask if she thinks Greece will pull out of the Euro zone. She looked at me as if I had gone mad. Why raise such an inconsequential subject while she wanted to discuss a life changing event of domestic rubbishPhotograph: YesBut/Flickr01.38 pm: My wife does the cooking and I do the washing-up. I'm convinced she uses additional saucepans just to annoy mePhotograph: YesBut/Flickr
03.15 pm: What a relief. I was going to go for a walk, but its pouring with rain. The lunchtime weather forecaster on BBC Wales said it would be dry until the evening. They should sell their radar and get a window, so that they could look out and see whether its raining or notPhotograph: YesBut/Flickr06.22 pm: I seem to spend my days trying to keep dry and warm. Held off as long as I could before lighting the gas-fire. I leave it on to take the chill out of the air, then turn it right downPhotograph: YesBut/Flickr10.36 pm: End of another thrilling day! Time for bed. Met a friend this morning, he has just come out of hospital and was feeling downcast. Asked me whether it was all worth it. Couldn't answer. I can't remember his name, some famous American photographer, being interviewed on TV. He was talking about Diane Arbus and asked, “if photography couldn't sustain her life, what hope is there for the rest of us?Photograph: YesBut/Flickr
