Guardian Camera Club: sebastapol on portraiture preserving anonymity
preserving anonymity 4: We're still getting material for last month's assignment which is fine. This is a curious set of street photography. Sepastapol has photographed the people unawares, but mostly they're well placed in their environment. For continuities' sake, it might have been better to have kept them all black and white, especially as the colour picture would have worked well in monotone, as the figure is just a shadow. The first picture is too dark, as it's really impossible to see what is going on. The second is great, with the man's arm mirroring the diggers' and looking like he's struggling to get out of the site. Weird! The colour picture uses the disconnect of the shadow from the workman's boots and the slats in the next picture hide the man's face perfectly.
