Invisible building: This picture works wells with the strong colours and lines. It is a nice way to abstractly show something that could otherwise be quite dull. Granda symmetry: A nice strong picture of the Alhambra making use of the symmetrical shapes and the reflective pond. Might have been nicer to wait for fewer people or more even spacing to play with the theme a little more Photograph: puzzledmonkey/Flickr

On the terrace: An amazing intense light combined with the white of the building generates a fascinating geometry on the terrace of a holiday apartment in Lanzarote. This picture doesn't quite work, though you can see what puzzledmonkey was trying to achieve. It would have been better to wait for a sunny day with blue sky then the contrast between the white and blue would have been more exciting. Sweet display: Colourful confectionery gets displayed and sold in the San Juan festival in Alicante. It would have been better to change the angle of this picture. Either get directly above, in front or to the side to create a repetitive pattern with the sweet display. Table service: A patriotic display of tables being laid out to attract the tourists in Salamanca. This is a good picture, you can imagine it being used for a financial story about decline in tourism. It could have been improved by taking the shot standing directly in front of the tables rather than slightly to the side Photograph: puzzledmonkey/Flickr

Vertical Garden: An amazing juxtaposition of colour with the vertical wall garden, La Caixa Forum exhibition centre and the blue skies of Madrid. Nice bold colours and good levels of saturation make this picture a nice detailed view of a building Photograph: puzzledmonkey/flickr
