Guardian Camera Club: Matthew Phypers on macro photography
Peg Macro: This shot turned out to be a lot harder than I anticipated. The wind in the garden combined with the poor light meant it was next to impossible to get a perfectly focused and sharp image Photograph: Matthew Phypers/FlickrLeaf Macro: In order to get enough light on the subject I tried various tourches and lamps until I got the right light source. Which turned out to be the up lighter in my living room. I had to take it apart the turn it upside down, rest it on top of two wine glasses and tape the leaf to the side of a glass. Lighter Macro: Macro/long exposure of a lighter being lit. This proved to be a complex and interesting shot to get right. I took between 60 -70 shots before I got the right combination of exposure, striking the lighter and the length of light being cast on the lighter with a torch Photograph: Matthew Phypers/FlickrGrater Macro: Taken using natural light and a tripod to steady it. I decided to slightly overexpose the subject as it gives the impression of vanishing into the distance Photograph: Matthew Phypers/FlickrLight Bulb Macro: I've taken a shot pretty much exactly the same as this in the past but when this macro project came up I had to try it again. I think this one works better in the square format Photograph: Matthew Phypers/Flickr
