Guardian Camera Club: Another Partial Success' portfolio review

Another Partial Success: The Daffodils Did Nothing Wrong
The Daffodils Did Nothing Wrong: April 2nd 2009 - the morning after the G20 protests. Good idea, and it takes a while to see that the green objects are trampeled daffs, which is good - it makes the viewer work a bit Photograph: Another Partial Success/flickr
Another Partial Success: Distortion is the Only Answer to.... (2)
Distortion is the Only Answer to.... (2): If your are going to produce such a monochromatic picture, the blacks really should be black Photograph: Another Partial Success/flickr
Another Partial Success: Every Good Door Needs Watching
Every Good Door Needs Watching: A quick return to the fave'd hallows of Baynard House - be still my beating heart - this time on a lunchtime stroll with me old mucka Hoshil when this camera, which I must have seen a gazillion times before, caught my eye. Would this be better with a dash of bright colour somewhere? I only ask Photograph: Another Partial Success/flickr
Another Partial Success: It Was Cold Outside
It Was Cold Outside: Feel the chill... Another from the "do you remember how cold is was only six months ago" series in response to the sweltering heat that London has endured over the last couple of days - probably a mild day in comparison with the heat felt on a daily basis in other parts of the world but for London it's been quite exceptional (30.9 degrees at Heathrow, according to the Met Office and today we're at Level 3 - Heatwave Action don't you know. Nice pic of a frozen mushroom, could have benefitted from better light, it's a bit flat - it might have been more strange at night? Photograph: Another Partial Success/flickr
Another Partial Success: Moviscrolliosis (made Explore!)
Moviscrolliosis (made Explore!): More mesmerising in a Large and Dark styley. While I usually supply the 'look at it large and on a dark background' links for folk to use as they see fit.. for this one I'd highly recommend it - particularly if you've got a scroll wheel mouse as zooming the image up and down is truly mesmerising.. and the detail of the scrunchy bits which are in focus is a nice treat. No prizes for guessing where this is - ye old favourite of Baynard House - but that doesn't really matter since the Main Feature is the texture on the slats, the symmetry and the Moviscrolliosis (images which change as you scroll them - there's a Flickr group for this effect which is almost hypnotic. This would well work as a series of abstracts, using the strong lines and strange effect pictures like this have on the eyes Photograph: Another Partial Success/flickr
Another Partial Success: גם זה יעבור
גם זה יעבור: For some reason this view of Blackfriars (road) Bridge caught my eye and reminded me that even the strongest structures decay with time and that the city we see around us will all one day be gone. Change is all around us all the time as this image by Homemade illustrates nicely along with the saying that in order to create you must first destroy. I like this picture for it's colours and texture, boosting the red at the bottom would have made it punchier Photograph: Another Partial Success/flickr
