Guardian books podcast: Anne Enright and Edward St Aubyn

After last week's excursion onto the cricket pitch, we return to literary fiction this week to meet up with two leading novelists. As the fifth and final instalment of Edward St Aubyn's sequence of novels about his alter ego Patrick Melrose hits the bookshops, he joins the podcast to discuss families and funerals. We discuss the difference between memoir and biographical fiction, what it feels like to wave goodbye to a character he has lived with for two decades, and how drugs helped both him and his character to survive.

Plus, we talk adultery in Dublin with Booker laureate Anne Enright, whose new novel is one of the first to portray the effects of the financial crash on ordinary lives.

At Last by Edward St Aubyn (Picador)
The Forgotten Waltz by Anne Enright (Cape)
