Guard Mike Iupati to reunite with line coach Mike Solari in Seattle

A familiar face is remaining in the NFC West but has found himself a new home. The Seattle Seahawks are signing guard Mike Iupati to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Out of Idaho, Iupati was originally selected with the No. 17 overall pick by the 49ers in the 2010 NFL draft. He spent five years with San Francisco before signing on with the division-rival Cardinals in 2015. He finished last season on the injured reserve with an MCL injury.

The Seahawks have a hole to fill on the offensive line with the loss of left guard J.R. Sweezy to the Cardinals and Iupati, if healthy, could be an immediate replacement. In Seattle, Iupati will reunite with Mike Solari, his offensive line coach in San Franciso.

Even with the signing, Seattle’s work on the offensive line is not finished as guard D.J. Fluker has yet to be re-inked to a new deal. Fluker has been promoting his services via Twitter and talks between the veteran and the Seahawks have been reported to be ongoing.
