GTA 6 preorders likely to start today: Check latest updates

Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI, popularly known as GTA 6, are reportedly expected to go live today, sparking fresh excitement among fans eagerly waiting for the game’s launch.

Rumours surrounding GTA 6 pre-orders began after an alleged email from Best Buy to its affiliates surfaced online. The leaked mail reportedly hinted that pre-orders for the highly anticipated game could begin ahead of its scheduled November 19 release date.

However, several reports have also suggested that if GTA 6 pre-orders do begin now, it could potentially signal another delay in the game’s release timeline.

So far, Rockstar Games has neither confirmed nor commented on the speculation surrounding the pre-orders.

The reported timing has also fuelled rumours about a possible third GTA 6 trailer. Many fans believe Rockstar could unveil a new trailer ending with an official pre-order announcement, especially since the studio has not released major gameplay footage in over a year.

Anticipation around GTA 6 has only intensified since the release of Trailer 2, which crossed more than 160 million views on YouTube. With very few official updates in recent months, fans have been closely tracking every possible hint related to Rockstar’s marketing plans.

At present, neither Rockstar Games nor publisher Take-Two Interactive has officially confirmed any pre-order date. Still, the reported timeline aligns with the game’s current November 19 launch window, placing pre-orders roughly five months before release.

GTA 6 is expected to launch first on current-generation consoles. The game is set in a modern-day version of Vice City and will reportedly feature dual protagonists. It remains one of the most anticipated upcoming releases in gaming history.

Until Rockstar officially confirms the details, the May 18 pre-order reports should be treated as unverified. Even so, the leak has reignited speculation that fresh GTA 6 announcements could arrive within days.

GTA 6 is far more than just another game launch. It is widely considered the biggest gaming event of the decade, carrying enormous expectations and the weight of Rockstar’s legacy. But the road to release has been marked by repeated delays and mounting pressure.

Rockstar first officially confirmed active development of GTA 6 in February 2022, ending years of rumours and speculation. The announcement instantly triggered massive hype across the gaming community.

In December 2023, Rockstar released the first GTA 6 trailer, which shattered viewing records and generated global buzz with its stunning look at Vice City. At the time, fans strongly believed the game would arrive in 2025.

Throughout 2024, however, multiple reports claimed Rockstar was struggling to meet internal development milestones. Sources suggested that key gameplay systems, world-building details, and technical polish were taking longer than expected.

Although 2025 was initially viewed as the likely release window, Rockstar later shifted the launch to May 2026 before eventually settling on November 19, 2026. Multiple delays are uncommon even for Rockstar, though the studio has a history of postponing releases to maintain quality standards.

According to rumours, GTA 6 could feature Rockstar’s most advanced open world yet, including smarter NPC behaviour, improved physics, dynamic weather systems, evolving environments, and interconnected storylines between its two protagonists. Such ambitious features require extensive development time and cutting-edge technology.

Both Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were delayed twice before release, largely because Rockstar is known for refusing to launch unfinished games. With GTA 6 arriving more than a decade after GTA 5, expectations are even higher this time around.
