GTA 6 pre-orders start in a matter of days according to Best Buy affiliate email that reportedly spills the beans early

GTA 6.

GTA 6 pre-orders may start as early as next week, if the latest rumors are anything to go by, as it's been claimed that Best Buy affiliates are being informed that folks will be able to place their orders on Monday.

As summarized on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, streamer Frogboyx1Gaming was mid-stream last night when he apparently received an email informing him of a campaign running from May 18 to May 21 to earn 5% on GTA 6 physical game pre-orders as a Best Buy affiliate. The email appears to come from The Best Buy Affiliate Team, with the subject line "New Product Boost Campaign."

Since then, others have spoken up claiming to receive the same thing – a separate screen-recorded video shows an identical email coming from the same email address, which you can watch below.

Just to hype things up even further, this supposed start date would place pre-orders commencing just ahead of Rockstar Games owner Take-Two Interactive's next earnings call, which is set to take place on May 21. The call had been slightly delayed from its usual May dates, and many fans have been speculating if some kind of announcement is scheduled to arrive before then.

Then again, fans have been anticipating an announcement seemingly every other day at this point – earlier this week, the prevailing theory was that GTA 6 trailer 3 was set to arrive on May 12. Spoiler alert, that didn't happen. Twitter account GTA 6 countdown also shared messages earlier this week – from an anonymous individual who claims to have an inside source at Rockstar – claiming that pre-orders will begin sometime this month, which obviously people are now hailing as true, though it could have been a lucky guess.

More than that, it's also hard to say if this Best Buy email is truly real. It's easier than ever these days to make convincing-looking fake emails – that's often how phishing scams work. In addition, there's a surprising lack of individuals who claim to have received the email themselves – most of the so-called evidence being shared around is of Frogboyx1Gaming's stream, rather than separate accounts.

I certainly wouldn't take this as hard confirmation, especially as it's been explicitly stated before that Rockstar's launch marketing is set to commence this summer – a window you'd typically use to describe the June to August period – but it's hard not to get hyped looking at all the latest rumors.

The good news is that we'll know for sure if this one is real by the time Monday, May 18 rolls around, and if not, well, I guess it's back to the moon theories.

GTA 6 could sell 45 million copies on PS5 in its first week, Baldur's Gate 3 publishing lead says: "It's going to be what Mario Kart for Switch is."
