GTA 6 hype hits all-time high as fans find more evidence pre-orders start today, but some have been burned too many times to believe it: "Better to be safe than sorry with Rockstar"

As seems to be the case weekly now, the GTA 6 community is huffing its usual hopium about GTA 6 pre-orders and a new trailer as potential listings for Rockstar Games' hotly anticipated title pop up on various retailers around the world.

In case you missed it, rumors surrounding a Trailer 3 release and a supposed pre-order leak on Best Buy have been running rampant online over the past week or so, along with fears that a $115 price tag is actually on the table. It's been a chaotic few days, to say the least, but the chaos isn't over just yet.

Now, fans are convinced that today – yes, this very run-of-the-mill Monday – is the day that pre-orders open up to the public.

Why is that, though? Well, Best Buy isn't the only place that eagle-eyed Grand Theft Auto stans have apparently spotted accidental listings.

Over on X, a user seemingly records their screen to show a Walmart page set to host GTA 6 sales, writing, "WALMART GTA 6 PAGE IS OUT!" It's important to note, however, that even in their own video, the Walmart link redirects to a "this page could not be found" message.

Comments show others thinking it's a sign that Trailer 3 is coming today or tomorrow. That's not all, either – GTA 6 is causing a global meltdown, it seems, as fans over in Denmark are saying their own retailers are letting GTA 6 pre-orders loose today.

A Reddit post argues, with screenshots and Google Maps links on board, that European retailers – like the Danish Elgiganten – have "been found to have open pre-orders" this Monday.

There's a separate thread alleging that Showgame, an Italian retailer, is opening up its GTA 6 pre-orders, as well. Not everyone is convinced by all of the pre-order shenanigans, though.

As one fan writes, "I'm feeling very conflicted with Monday. I want to set low expectations to be safe [rather] than excited. We'll see tho. I don't want Monday to come around, and it ends up being a nothing burger. Better to be safe than sorry with Rockstar."

The community has been burned one too many times, eh? Replies see others remaining on ye olde hopium high, however. "Pre-orders go live on Monday. We get a gameplay trailer on Tuesday," alleges one response.

Sigh – this really could, of course, all just be for naught. I mean, we just found out that Rockstar's supposed GTA 6 source code pre-order evidence is actually years old and not the teaser folks wanted it to be.

It's tough to tell what's real and what isn't, at this point. I'd argue that the GTA 6 pre-orders will simply open when they do, and Trailer 3 will similarly drop whenever Rockstar finally decides to bless us with its presence.

GTA 6 was delayed to avoid crunch, claims Take-Two CEO, comparing notoriously crunchy Rockstar to college: "You do your homework, you don't pull an all-nighter"
