The state-owned Government Savings Bank (GSB) aims to extend loans worth 5 billion baht, twice as much as last year, to 100,000 street food vendors in 2019.
The bank will charge borrowers 0.5-0.85% a month, depending on collateral value, said president Chatchai Payuhanaveechai.
Each street food hawker will be lent up to 100,000 baht, while food truck vendors can seek a loan of up to 500,000 baht.
Applicants must be 20 years or older, and selling street food must be their main career.
In 2018, GSB lent 3 billion baht to 18,000 street food vendors.
Street food sellers have played a role in maintaining the low cost of living for urban people, Mr Chatchai said, adding that income generated by foreign tourists at street food stalls will total 35 billion baht a year if each spends 1,000 baht.
The state-controlled bank will also launch GSB Street Food Contest, a reality show, to improve vendors' skills in cooking and presenting dishes.
