'Growling and shouting' man kicked CCTV camera

A man was caught "growling and shouting" in a city street and must now pay £100 compensation after kicking a CCTV camera in a police van.

Jack Langford, 24, faced city magistrates and admitted causing criminal damage at 3.30am on New Year's Day.

Robert Carr, prosecuting, described how he was arrested after being seen in a street "shouting, growling and kicking out."

He was put in the back of the van but kicked one of two cameras which were there so officers could keep an eye on prisoners.

"They lost the picture from a camera," added Mr Carr.

A £40 fine, £85 prosecution costs and £32 tax must be paid by Langford of Dungannon Road, Clifton.

Ran Johal, mitigating, said: "He was being disorderly, the cause of the amount of alcohol that he had consumed.

"Clearly he didn't want to be arrested. He spent a night in custody as a result of this incident."
