Growing weight-loss firm Slimming World continues investment in Derbyshire headquarters

National weight loss firm Slimming World is continuing to invest in its Derbyshire headquarters after revamping its offices and warehouses.

The firm, based at Alfreton, has refitted and extended buildings its head office thanks to Lincolnshire-based commercial interior fit out and construction firm APSS.

APSS has refurbished and stripped out two warehouses and associated office space, bringing two current distribution warehouses under one roof.

Works also included internal extensions of a single-storey office block and a refurbishment of the whole office building.

Slimming World was founded by Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE 50 years ago.

Today, it has more than 19,000 weekly groups supporting 900,000 members across the UK and Ireland.

The groups are run by a network of 5,500 community-based Slimming World consultants, who receive specific training at the Derbyshire head office in the role of diet and physical activity in weight management, as well as sophisticated behaviour-change techniques.

The recently completed fit out of Slimming World’s headquarters is just the latest project that APSS has carried out for the firm over the last couple of years.

Other schemes include the refurbishment of the brand’s reception area, office space and bathroom facilities at the head office.

Mark Wagstaff, project manager at APSS, said: “We’re delighted to have completed the latest project for Slimming World, which will provide new, modern office space for its many team members, therefore boosting moral and comradery.

“This is in addition to two improved warehouses, with better facilities for increased efficiency and distribution.”

Paul James, facilities manager at Slimming World, said: “It’s been great to continue our working partnership with APSS and we’re really pleased with all the developments that have been made to our warehouse and main building.

“Our head office is important because it’s home to our dedicated teams who work exceptionally hard to support our self-employed consultants who, in turn, ensure our members receive the very best service – and that all starts here in Derbyshire.”
