Growing number of Scots turn to online porn during the coronavirus pandemic

A growing number of Scots have been turning to porn amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Figures released by Pornhub have revealed that Scots were the second highest consumers of pictures and videos on its website in the UK leading up to the Easter weekend.

The adult content firm said it has seen a 33 per cent increase in the number of people flocking to the website between April 6-10.

Birmingham was the highest consumers of porn during that period, with the West Midlands city driving the website’s traffic up by 36 per cent during the same period.

Scots porn habits have been higher than usual since the nationwide lockdown was announced on March 23.

Traffic from Scotland spiked on the days following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement, with a 55.3% increase on March 25.

A spokesperson for the website said: “Traffic to Pornhub overall has been much higher than it was before the coronavirus pandemic spread worldwide.

“The peak UK traffic increase of 26.9% happened on March 25 after the company offered Free Pornhub Premium to encourage people to stay indoors and distance themselves socially.”
