Growing Derby recruitment specialist relocates to revamped city office complex

A recruitment specialist has become the latest firm to takes pace at a revamped Derby office complex.

Astute Recruitment, which offers recruitment services to the accountancy industry, has taken a larger office at Cardinal Square, in Nottingham Road.

The firm now has their entire team working in the new ground floor premises at Cardinal Square following the lockdown, where it joins companies such as NHS Property Services, Freeths Solicitors, IT specialists Node 4, Bulkhead and IT recruitment business Xpertise.

Astute was set up during the last recession in 2009 – and the firm believes that Derby is well placed to weather the current recession.

It has said many companies it deals with are still looking to grow their finance and accountancy teams.

Mary Maguire, director of Astute Recruitment said: “From the snapshot of conversations we’ve had, companies are saying the furlough scheme has really helped them through. A lot of them are not just trading but are continuing to do well.

“For Astute it’s all about building relationships and throughout the pandemic we’ve been keeping in touch with clients and going that extra mile to help individuals and new companies out, even just listening to what’s happening in their world and any concerns to help them through what has been a difficult time.

“We’re confident that these relationships will continue to flourish, and that the new offices will help us achieve the next stage in our plans for growth.

“The new offices are providing a polished and professional working environment for our team to thrive and continue to grow."

A new consultant, Harry Langridge, is also welcomed to the new office, who will focus on permanent qualified accountancy roles across North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.

Sarah Stevenson, managing director at Astute, said: “We’re delighted to appoint a new, experienced recruiter to our team. His appointment demonstrates our confidence in the future of our business.”

David Dyas, asset manager at Cardinal Square, said: “Astute are just the sort of occupiers we hoped to attract.

“They are a growing, established, people-focused company, driven by two very successful local entrepreneurs.

“Mary and Sarah are straight talking, a pleasure to deal with, and I’m delighted that Cardinal Square has been chosen for the next phase of Astute’s growth.”
