Growing Coronavirus fears sees Iconic Dublin nightclub Copper Face Jacks erect 'no shift zones' in joke Facebook post

Iconic Dublin nightclub Copper Face Jacks has joked that it will be erecting 'no shift zone' signs ahead of the weekend over growing Coronavirus fears.

The Harcourt Street establishment, owned by Cathal Jackson, took to Facebook last night in a joke post advising visitors to the famous nightclub to "fist bump or something" instead of lobbing the gob.

First opened in 1996, the legendary late night club has become one of the most successful late night venues in Ireland.

The Jackson Court Hotel comprises of 36 bedrooms, 7 bars, which includes a VIP bar and a Premium Bar on the first floor, and 3 beer gardens.

Posting one of these mock 'no shift zone' images on their Facebook page, Coppers joked: "Signs are currently being erected ahead of the weekend to help stop the spread of #Coronavirus.  Could you all just fist bump or something until this all blows over?"

Fans of one of Europe's most famous nightclubs breathed a sigh of relief in November when it was taken off the market after being put up for sale last year.

Owners Cathal and Paula Jackson reversed their decision to sell after the Jackson Court Hotel which went on the market in March for a reported €40 million.

In a memo to staff dated November 6, the Jacksons confirmed that they would be keeping ownership of 'Coppers'.

The memo states: "As you know, Cathal had some health issues late last year and reluctantly made the decision to put Coppers on the market.

"The proposed sale was launched in March of this year and attracted strong interest. Several approaches were made.

"However, we are pleased to confirm that as Cathal has now recovered his health completely, he has decided to stay actively involved in the business. As a result, he has now formally withdrawn the property from sale."

It concluded: "Cathal and Paula would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all their staff for their support during this time."
