Growing concerns for welfare of missing Scots teen not seen since Friday

There are growing concerns for the welfare of a Scots teenager who has not been seen since Friday morning.

Sophia Gourlay has been reported missing from Hurlford in East Ayrshire and was last seen in the village at around 10.55am.

It is believed the 14-year-old may be in Edinburgh and officers have now launched a frantic appeal for information they hope could help trace her.

She is described as 5ft 6in, of medium build, with long brown hair and brown eyes.

When she was last seen, Sophia was wearing a blue quilted jacket, grey leggings and black Nike running shoes.

Sgt Lorraine Fraser, of Kilmarnock Police Office, said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned for Sophia’s well-being and we would like to trace her as soon as possible to ensure that she is safe.

"We would also like to appeal to Sophia herself to get in touch should she see this appeal."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Kilmarnock Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 2404 of Friday, March 18.
