Four men who allegedly assaulted a fellow AFL fan at the annual Anzac Day clash between Collingwood and Essendon have been identified by police.
The group got into a verbal dispute with a 27-year-old Cheltenham man nearing the end of the April 25 match at the MCG.
He walked away and watched the rest of the game from the concourse, as Essendon went on to win by 24 points.
The group approached the victim after the final siren, allegedly assaulting him before one man pushed him to the ground.
They fled on foot when security stepped in, police said.
CCTV footage and images were released of the men on Wednesday in an effort to track them down, with two later handing themselves in at a police station.
A 29-year-old man from Ferntree Gully and a 31-year-old man from Boronia were released without charge, pending further inquiries.
The two others believed to be involved are expected to be interviewed at a later date.
The group appears to be a mix of Essendon and Collingwood fans. One was wearing a Magpies scarf and another had on a Bombers beanie and scarf.
It follows a crowd incident in the stands at Adelaide Oval in mid-May where a man wearing a Port Adelaide scarf was punched multiple times in the head.
