The Tail of Emily Windsnap by Liz Kessler

So far I have not quite finished the book but I can tell you that so far it is one of the best books I've read, and I've read quite a few.
At the start of the book Emily discovers that whenever she touches water she becomes a very special creature. The book becomes a journey of discovery about herself and her father who shares her special secret.
The words in the book are cleverly used, however I found the story a little slow paced. The language is easy to understand and you are able to sense how the character is feeling which almost makes you have the same feelings.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is fascinated by sea life and history.

Wonder by RJ Palacio

This tremendously good book will make you cry, laugh, feel sad, excited, grateful and happy. Some people think it is great to be pretty or handsome but August (the main character of the book) would find it a dram just to look normal.
This book is about a poor little boy who is disfigured. At first he and his parents do not want him to go to school but when the 5th Grade arrives they make the decision for him to go. He meets lots of children - some genuine, some cruel. August makes friends as well as enemies.
We learn how August's problems affect people around him, including his sister. We find out how he gets on at Halloween and at camp- being away from home.
The fact that you get to see events from everybody's opinion makes this one of the best books that I have ever read and it has the power to change hearts and minds.
It gets 4.5 / 5

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken

This book is about a girl named Bonnie who has very rich parents. Because Bonnie's old governess has left Bonnie gets a new one named Miss Sligharp. They really don't get on well and after a terrible start things can only get better. Then Bonnie's cousin Sylvia comes to stay and Bonnie's parents go on a boat trip. Bonnie and Sylvia are left with the old evil Miss Sligcarp. After a few disastrous lessons Miss Sligharp dismisses all the old loyal servants! Then she decides to dismiss Bonnie and Sylvia to an ancient dusty workhouse that is for young adults. Can Bonnie and her cousin Sylvia outwit the hated Miss Sligcarp?
I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 8 years old. Also, if you don't like slow moving parts I would not recommend this book for you but I would give this book a five star review.

Goth Girl Ghost of a Mouse by Chris Riddell

This book is about a girl called Ada who is the daughter of Lord Goth. She has a growing suspicion on the indoor gamekeeper Maltraverse who is running the indoor hunt where you chase miniature pheasants around the house. Although this book has got a ghost of a mouse in the title I don't really think it has much to do with the book apart from when Ada makes friends with a mouse named Ishmael Whiskers.
Apart from that I think it is a great book about the relationship of a father and daughter getting to notice the things people do for you in every day life i.e cooking as Ada has maids that cook for her and cleaning. Ada might not always see the maids while they are cleaning around her but she knows that they have been.
When the time of the event comes up Ada realises that instead of having miniature pheasants Maltraverse uses innocent mythical creatures. Everybody finds this mean because Maltraverse forces them up on to the roof which is where The Lord Goth's wife died on a tightrope. In the end Lord Goth realises it is better to pay more attention to the ones you love.
