Cherry Blossom Dreams by Gwyneth Rees

Review by Iola

When Sasha was 6 her dad died suddenly and the world changed forever. Now that she is 12 it feels like things are changing for her again. Her twin brother hardly talks to her, her mum is dating a teacher from her school and her best friend Lily keeps going on about a boy. Sasha doesn’t feel ready for any changes, all she thinks about is why things can’t just stay the same.

Overall I think that this book is extremely good but I think it would be a bit better for older children (13 and over) as I did sometimes find it a bit boring. My favourite character was Sasha because she does her own thing and doesn’t like to be bossed around by people. I also liked that she is quite sensitive and self-conscious.

Bodyguard Ambush by Chris Bradford

Review by NH

bodyguard

Bodyguard Ambush is a great action book about a teenage boy named Connor. It is a book that you will not put down, and in my opinion it is the best book I have reviewed so far.

Connor has to pass his test on bodyguard training and look after a foreign ambassador’s family on safari. But then they are ambushed and no one knows what will happen next....unless you open this book and start reading it!

My favourite character was Connor as he is very competitive and full of excitement. He is a great person and always wants to try new things. I would recommend this book to kids between the ages of 10 and 14 due to its action and thrills!

Darkmouth by Shane Hegarty

Review by Hamza3550

darkmouth

Finn, a twelve year old boy, is struggling to live up to his father’s reputation. Being a legend hunter means wearing a massive suit of armour and holding a gun; in other words - a Desiccator. He has to hunt legends (ferocious monsters), try to find out what Emmie (a new girl who recently moved to Darkmouth) is up to. This amazing book containing adventure and action, is really a book that is going to pull you in like a black hole.

I would like to recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about spaceships aliens and mythical creatures. If you really are prepared to be amazed, read and be immersed in this book.
