Group of Stewartry pals complete special triathlon for charity

A group of friends from across the Stewartry took on a special triathlon for charity on Saturday.

Debbie Swalwell, Pauline Drysdale, Susan Muir, Marion McCrae and Alex Bryson were joined by Lou Bocking, who made the journey for Cambridge, to take part in the challenge from Crossmichael marina.

They were inspired to complete a one mile swim, 24 mile bike ride and 6.2 mile run by the story of Colin Peter Clark, who set up the Iron Man for Hope charity in Hawaii after being diagnosed with a brain tumour that recently claimed his life.

Debbie, Pauline, Lou and Alex completed all three stages of the charity, with Marion completing the cycle and Susan completing the run.

By doing so, they raised hunreds of pounds for Iron Man for Hope and also the Alexandria Unit at DGRI.

They would like to thank Jim McLelland and Ed Hex for their help and Alex Bryson for training and motivation.
