The incident occurred in the Spamount Street area of Belfast on Friday (February 21).

A police spokeswoman said: "It's understood that shortly before 11pm a group of seven people, believed to be four males and three females, forced their way inside a property and threatened the male occupant.

"It's believed the group then fled the area in three cars, one of which is described as being a white saloon with black alloy wheels."

Detective Constable Chris Sherlock said: "We are keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information about this crime. Detectives can be contacted at Musgrave CID by calling 101, quoting reference 2039 21/02/20."
