Group of men smash window and try to steal cash machine from Aldi in New Basford

A group of men smashed a window and tried to steal a cash machine from an Aldi supermarket in Nottingham.

Police were called to the store in Lortas Road, New Basford, where the raid  is believed to have happened at about 10.30pm on Saturday, April 20.

A force spokesman said: "It was reported that a group of men smashed a window at the Aldi store in Lortas Road before attempting to remove a cash machine from within. A stolen van was used in the incident.

"The offenders were unsuccessful in their attempt and fled the scene.

"Our enquiries are ongoing, including exploring CCTV and forensic opportunities, and we're appealing for anyone with any information about the incident to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information which may help the investigation is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 1036 of April 20.
