Oct. 12--Mark your calendars: Land and Sea Dept., the group behind Lost Lake, Longman Eagle and Parson's Chicken Fish, is bringing three powerhouse chefs to its warehouse space in Garfield Park for three intimate dinners this fall.
The second annual From Good Stock dinner series has lined up chef Katrina Zito from St. Anselm, a Brooklyn steakhouse known for its two-hour waits; chef Joe Muench of Maxie's, a popular Southern restaurant in Milwaukee; and Chicago's own Jonathan Meyer of hipster cocktail mecca Broken Shaker (19 E. Ohio St.), which won Best American Hotel Bar at Tales of the Cocktail this year, for the three dinners, each capped at 50 people.
Expect the chefs to break out some never-seen-before dishes paired with music and art, says Elana Green, Land and Sea Dept.'s director of operations. "We want to give the chefs an outlet to write menus they wouldn't get to write at their restaurant, to serve food that wouldn't work in a restaurant setting," she says.
Meyer's dinner ($100 per person) kicks off the series on Oct. 22, with cocktails from Gui Jaroschy, the bar manager of the Broken Shaker on Miami Beach. Zito follows on Nov. 13 with a steak dinner with wine pairings ($125); Muench ends the series on Dec. 5 with a more casual lowcountry feast ($100), "like you threw a house party with really good food and drink," Green says.
All dinners will be held at 3124 W. Carroll St. at 6:30 p.m. Buy tickets to all three here, or individually at the links above.
