Apologies for the lack of communication today everyone, managing to get connected to the interweb on my travels around Lancashire today involved wiring a coat hanger to my skull, clamping my teeth down on a nice big chunk of tin foil, and sitting in the tallest tree I could find. Hopefully the snippet from Katie Chapman sated you a little.
Right, onwards: I'm at Deepdale, Preston, for Germany v Italy. Things I can tell you:
- there's a crowd of about 20 - Birgit Prinz is in the starting line up for Germany - my betting, having already gone off the boil, is about to congeal in a nasty fashion.
The second and third points there are tied up in one another - the odds on Germany are 1/6, and having had my fingers burnt at half the price, I'm not tempted one bit. Instead I've stuck £2 on the draw at 9/2 - not too much waste, you see, and a nice surprise if Italy manage something. I'm not counting on it, mind. This one could be over before half time if Germany are in the mood.
The other game in group B tonight is France v Norway. France have made a far better start to the tournament than anticipated, and while Norway might not have any points, they outplayed the world champions on Monday. I don't fancy calling it, so it's another small one on the draw - £5 at 11/5. I know, I know, sticking £7 straight down the toilet would have been quicker. But if this tournament has taught us anything, kids, it's that strange things happen.
