Group allegedly armed with batons break teenager's jaw and eye socket for bike and phone in north Dublin

A frightening group allegedly armed with batons have been terrorising young Dublin teens over the weekend reportedly leaving one teen with a reported broken jaw and eye socket.

Several young teenagers allegedly had their bike and mobile phones stolen from them near Griffith Park in Drumcondra on Sunday at around 3pm.

One of the teens who refused to hand over his bike reportedly had his jaw and eye socket broken.

These type of thefts on young people in north Dublin have become so bad in recent weeks that councillor Caroline Conroy has been forced to organise a community meeting.

The event will discuss how the community can stop bike theft as well as touching on safe cycling, cycling to school and even advice around buying bikes.

Speaking about the incident that is alleged to have happened on Sunday, Councillor Conroy said: "The meeting about bike theft takes place on Tuesday at 7:30pm. That reported incident is awful."

She added: "This is why I organised the meeting, this matter is not being taken seriously. I hope the victims involved are okay and get their things back."

Dublin Live has contacted Gardai about the incident.
