'Groundhog day' Leeds United fans question side's mentality after Derby County steal a late point

Every Leeds United fan has been left tearing their hair out after a late equaliser prevented them from taking all three points against Derby County.

The Whites only held a one-goal lead, courtesy of a Max Lowe own goal, into the dying stages of the game, where Chris Maritn popped up with a stoppage-time leveller.

It was groundhog day for Marcelo Bielsa and his side, who had watched United dominate the match and create countless chances, only for their visitors to grab a point at the death.

Mateusz Klich's missed penalty mid-way through the second half was the most glaring of countless presentable chances that Leeds wasted.

Patrick Bamford was also part of the guilty party, hitting the post after the break but also spurning fantastic chance in the first half but lifted his shot over the bar when he should have scored.

Just like Nottingham Forest and Swansea City before, two games where the Whites should have taken six points but were left with one, Leeds were dealt the sucker-punch that almost everyone in Elland Road knew was coming.

The performance was again as good as you're likely to see from a Championship side this season but given this isn't the first time Bielsa's side have been left shortchanged, questions have to be asked.

The draw means that a win for Swansea City away at Bristol City at 3pm will move them above the Whites into first place, although, bar an unrealistic flood of goals from Charlton at Wigan, United can't drop lower than second.

The league table is irrelevant, though. The main concern is how Bielsa addresses the concern that his side are simply not ruthless in front of goal.

The Argentinian was visibly frustrated on the sidelines as he sensed an equaliser coming and he will be no less disappointed than Leeds' supporters.

Here's what the fan base had to say about the result after the final whistle.
