VIRGIN Australia will suspend all of its Newcastle Airport flights from Friday night.
The move comes as part of a 90 per cent reduction to the airline's domestic capacity.
It usually operates regular flights between Newcastle and both Brisbane and Melbourne.
Flights will be suspended until June 14.

"The Virgin Australia Group has confirmed a revised domestic schedule following the Group's decision to extend domestic capacity reductions from 50 per cent to 90 per cent, including the suspension to Tigerair Australia domestic services effective immediately," a statement said.
"The Group will continue to operate near daily services to 17 Australian destinations for the purpose of transporting essential services, critical freight and logistics.
"The Group will temporarily suspend services to 19 Australian destinations from midnight 27 March to 14 June 2020."

The airline's second round of cuts come after the Queensland Government announced it would close its state borders, forcing anyone arriving by air to self-isolate for 14 days.
Anyone booked to travel with the airline between now and June 30 is encouraged to visit the Virgin Australia customer care hub at virginaustralia.com to request a travel credit online.
Meanwhile, the future of flights operated by regional NSW airline FlyPelican appear up in the air with the company unable to say how frequently it would be flying in and out of Newcastle beyond next week.
It has already reduced the amount of flights it operates across its statewide network, including flights between Newcastle Airport and Canberra, Dubbo and Ballina.
It will operate a return flight between Newcastle and Ballina twice next week.
Three return flights are scheduled for the Newcastle and Canberra route, and two are planned between Newcastle and Dubbo.
The airline is understood to be willing to operate extra flights across those three routes should demand arise.
Jetstar reduced its Newcastle Airport flights last week.
The airline culled its Gold Coast route and reduced its Melbourne and Brisbane services to one return flight per day.
QantasLink flights were also reduced between Newcastle and Brisbane, while Regional Express also scrapped its flights between Newcastle and Sydney indefinitely.
