Meet Emma. She could be you or your colleague in the future...
With eyes glazed over from staring at a computer screen, Emma reveals what office workers may look like in 20 years thanks to modern technology and office working environments.
Perhaps due to lack of sunshine or artificial office lighting and air conditioning systems, Emma has a nasty rash on the inside of her arm.
She has her hand permanently clenched from over-using her smartphone, a condition known as “text claw” or “cell phone elbow”.

From sitting stationary at a desk and probably due to a lack of exercise, Emma’s ankles are barely visible.
Emma also has work-related musculo-skeletal problems and is hunched over after spending hours at her keyboard.
Created by ergonomics firm Fellowes and behavioural futurist William Higham, Emma is a life-sized model showing how office workers may look if radical changes are not made to their working environments.
Developed as part of the Work Colleague of the Future campaign, Emma has been designed in response to a study by the healthy workspace solutions provider.
It claims almost half of British office workers suffer from eyestrain, sore backs and headaches as a direct result of their workspaces.
