Pile of rubbish left by family outside home on Sneinton street angers neighbours

A pile of rubbish left in a busy street angered neighbours as the family responsible described why they had left items in open view.

Rubbish was strewn around Sneinton Hermitage in Sneinton with a broken piano, two mattresses and smashed up furniture being left outside.

It is understood the family had booked a bulky waste collection with the council, but put the items out on the street way ahead of the collection time.

A picture of the rubbish has been circulating online and people have voiced their disgust with the person responsible.

However, the family at the centre of the storm said the situation had upset them too.

Salmaan Imran, 21, and his family had been renovating their house on the street, and left their rubbish on the side waiting for it to be picked up as part of a bulky waste collection.

He said: "We are redoing everything inside.

"People are coming and taking pictures outside our house."

Emma Gody, 45, from Sneinton, says the pile of rubbish was the worst she's ever seen.

She said: "I've never seen it this bad, it's usually just bin bags on the street.

"It makes it hard to walk past."

Thomas Kilinsky, 34, who lives on the street, thought it made the appearance of the road look 'trashy'.

He said: "It's been here for about two weeks but it keeps getting worse.

"The problem is people will see rubbish and then add to it so it is never ending.

"It doesn't look nice, it's trashy, and something needs to be done."

The rubbish was collected by the council on January 12. It is understood that council workers spent an hour clearing the items, which comprised of many more than had been originally booked in.
