Groomer gives dogs much needed trim - and the animals are unrecognisable after

With the UK still on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, life as we know it has come to a standstill.

Shops and hospitality venues have been closed to limit the spread of the virus, as well as beauty salons and barbers.

And it's not just humans who are missing out on having their hair cut - our four-legged friends have also been going without a spot of grooming.

Well, unless you're brave enough to give it a go at home, that is.

But one grooming salon in Brighton has recently been able to reopen thanks to the easing of some lockdown measures.

Bone Idol grooming salon has finally been able to give some of their fluffiest customers a much needed makeover.

And they're being really careful while they do it.

Salon staff put on face coverings and gloves before the pampered pooch arrives, and unlock the door for customers.

The dog's owner then places their pet into a waiting crate, removing their collar and lead and using hand sanitiser, before leaving the premises.

Staff then disinfect door handles and lock the door before starting work on the dog.

They've already had a number of clients in and have shared some brilliant before and after photos showing off their handiwork.

The dogs had gone a while without grooming and as such were practically unrecognisable after a spot of pampering.

Bone Idol's owner Scott Learmouth said: "More than 350 clients called to book after it was announced that the restrictions had been lifted.

"All of our clients really love their pets and keep up with their grooming visits religiously, so some of the dogs looked hairier than we have ever seen them."

He continued: "We’ve worked hard to make the salon safe and put in strict social distancing measures, it’s so wonderful to be back to work and seeing all the dogs and their owners again, and be able to do that safely.

"All the dogs are now back looking fabulous again, ahead of all of us who have to wait for human hairdressers a little while longer!"
