Groom-to-be had cannabis to calm his pre-wedding nerves, court hears

The pressures of marriage left groom-to-be Danyal Aziz smoking cannabis.

The drug was found when he suddenly realised that his wedding clothes were in the wrong house - and nipped out to collect them, a court heard.

But he was using his brother's car with no insurance cover and a small bag of herbal cannabis was found after he was pulled over, said Ben Brown who represented Aziz, 21, of Gloucester Avenue, Nottingham.

It added up to a £200 fine and £117 costs for Aziz. He admitted having a small bag of cannabis on May 27 and having no insurance on London Road.

Mr Brown said that Aziz was not a cannabis user but told the court: "The reason is that he was under unbelievable stress and it was essentially to calm him down before the wedding."

Quiana Fitzpatrick, prosecuting, said that the car was pulled over at 10.20am. A search revealed " a bag of cannabis in his possession for personal use," added Miss Fitzpatrick.
