Groom's parents object at wedding ceremony and later make outrageous proposal to bride

An objection at a wedding is something most people will only ever see in the movies. However, for one couple, the scenario became a reality.

Taking to Reddit, a curious user asked: “People that have had someone object at your wedding, what happened?”

The post received many responses but none quite as outrageous as this one.

One user replied to the post saying that a wedding they attended took a turn for the worst after the groom's parents made an absurd and insulting offer to the newlywed bride.

They said: “I was at a wedding where there were three parties: the bride's, the groom's, and the groom's mother's.

“She hated the bride, thought she was not good enough for her son, etc. I was friends with both bride and groom, and they had to invite the groom's mom and dad, but they had the priest avoid the "Objection" part of the ceremony.”

Despite the couple's best attempt to avoid drama on their big day, chaos ensued after the bride danced with her new husband’s father.

The post continued: “At the reception, there was a moment where the groom's father danced with the bride, and a few minutes later she stormed off the dance floor.

“The groom's dad had offered her $5,000 cash to walk away right then and there and have the marriage annulled.

“The reception featured a flambeau entrée, and everybody was watching the groom's mother, half expecting her to grab one of the flaming skewers from one of the waiters and hurl it at the bride.”

However, the appalling acts of the parents did not deter the young couple as the user revealed they are still together, despite the parent's efforts.

They said: “They're still married 30 years later and have two kids, but I believe they are estranged from the groom's family for some reason…”

The post gathered attention as people were disgusted with the parent's plans to foil the couples big day.

One person said: “I think it goes to show that the groom's parents have a loveless marriage if they think that people consider money more valuable.”

While another said: “That's so incredibly low wow”.
