Groom horrifies wife by forgetting age-old wedding cake tradition

A bride has shared the horrifying moment her new husband broke one of the oldest wedding traditions.

Allie Downs and her husband Jake were at their wedding reception when a guest captured his rookie mistake.

The newlyweds had just cut the cake as a pair - the first part of the tradition that acts as a symbol of commitment to one another.

And were about to complete the second part, where you feed each other the first bite of cake - which symbolises the first tasks completed together as a married couple.

When, instead, he stands there feeding himself, leaving Allie in total shock.

The video shows Allie holding a plate of their chocolate wedding cake, before Jake takes a chunk of it.

But instead of feeding it to his new wife, without hesitating, he stuffs it in his mouth.

As he does so, you see the shock on Allie's face.

She then mouths something to him, which we assume is her telling him that he's slipped up.

And then a moment later, when he registers what he's done wrong his face drops.

Allie shared the hilarious moment to her TikTok with the caption: "Honestly thought he had seen the cake tradition at a wedding before."

Since being posted, the clip has been seen more than five million times, received 636,000 likes and 1,800 comments.

One person said: "He said I'm hungry too bad."

Another added: "Why aren't you eating yours? We are supposed to -"

A third said: "Haha he looks confused awe."

Whilst others revealed they have the same issue with their husband.

One woman admitted: "My husband did this. He cut the cake alone and then fed himself. I was like. Bruh. What."

And: "My husband and I both fed ourselves the cake and didn't think twice until a bunch of family members yelled at us" said another.
