The Government may be in a state of shutdown, but not the poisonous mouths of the Republicans. Since becoming effective on October 1, President Donald Trump and his brothers-in-arms and ammunition have not wasted any opportunity in taking digs at the Democrats while American citizens suffer.
Mike Johnson, who often wears a smirk while delivering some of the most obnoxious remarks, has never shied away from showing his unrelenting support for the current US President. Since Trump assumed power for a second time this year, Johnson has gone to extreme lengths to cover up his mistakes and often blatantly lied while shifting blame to the Democrats.
One of the departments in which Johnson has consistently been saving his orange overlord’s back relates to the Epstein Files, which are believed to contain Trump’s name, considering that he was a close friend of the sex offender during that time. While Trump has repeatedly maintained he had severed all ties with Jeffrey Epstein, his name has resurfaced numerous times in connection with his activities, making it hard to believe he was uninvolved in the scandal.
Speaker Mike Johnson is yet again trying to shield Donald Trump’s reputation by deflecting and blaming the Democrats for withholding information concerning the Epstein Files. Just recently, during a press conference, when asked by a journalist to provide an update on the Epstein investigation, Johnson hesitated to answer and took his usual route of blaming the Democrats. “All of the files were in the possession of the Biden-Harris Department of Justice for four years. Every single thing that we’re talking about right now was in their sole possession,” he said before adding that the Democrats who are now calling for the release of the files “didn’t say a peep about it for four years” and called it a “partisan-manufactured thing”.
Johnson also mentioned that he met with victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. While some individuals were willing to reveal their identities for the release of the documents, others were not. For this reason, he stated that several names would need to be redacted before the files could be made public. He said:
“They have not all chosen to come forward, like some of these other brave women have, for obvious reasons, and we have to make sure that when the files are released, their names are redacted so they don’t suffer further harm. We have a duty and a responsibility.”
People who saw Johnson’s comments online quickly called out his statements, noting the ease with which information can be handled and processed with modern technology. “GROK can do it in 30 seconds,” one person highlighted while another noted Johnson was lying to protect a “pedophile.”
